The boring work is where healthcare breaks
# Credentialed does not always mean ready to bill

Healthcare has a funny problem.
The important work is usually not the loud work.
Everyone talks about claims. Denials. Payments. Revenue cycle. Big dashboards. Big meetings. Big headaches.
But before all of that, there is the quiet little monster sitting in the corner.
Enrollment.
Credentialing.
CAQH.
Payer applications.
ERA.
EFT.
EDI.
Portal access.
Provider linking.
Effective dates.
Tax IDs.
Locations.
Payer IDs.
Fun stuff. Truly life-changing entertainment.
The problem is, most practices only notice enrollment when something breaks.
A new provider starts, but cannot bill.
A payer says the provider is not loaded.
ERA is approved, but remits are not coming through.
EFT went to the wrong place.
The clearinghouse says one thing. The payer says another.
Someone has an approval letter, but nobody knows where it is.
The biller is blamed. The office manager is stressed. The provider just wants to see patients.
And the worst part?
Most of these issues started weeks or months earlier.
Not at claim submission.
Not at payment posting.
Earlier.
That is why payer setup matters.
It is not glamorous. It is not exciting. Nobody wakes up saying, “I would love to chase payer portals today.”
But it keeps the money moving.
At Medrollment, this is the work we do. The boring payer paperwork everyone else avoids.
Credentialing. Enrollment. ERA/EFT. EDI setup. Follow-ups. Tracking. Clean handoff.
Very boring.
